Message from President

Abul Kalam Azad, President

Welcome to the official website of the Bangladesh Drishtihin Foundation (BDF).
Our journey began in 1988-89 after witnessing the stark lack of preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services for the visually impaired in our country
Faced with the dismaying reality of increasing blindness each year, BDF was established on February 07, 1989, to ensure vision care, inclusive education, and full social participation for those in need.

At the heart of our work is a steadfast Mission: to fight for the equalization of opportunities for people with disabilities, including the visually impaired, in Bangladesh
We strive to drive transformational change through innovation and by mobilizing a dedicated network of partners, donors, and volunteers
Our Vision is a world defined by solidarity and inclusion, where every individual—regardless of their physical challenges or economic hardship—can live with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Over the decades, BDF has evolved into a premier organization for community eye care
We have conducted approximately 500 mobile eye camps across 40 districts, providing surgeries and essential treatments to thousands
Furthermore, our 100-bed general hospital in Dhaka serves the most disadvantaged populations, while our Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) programs bring inclusive education and training directly to those who need it most.

We believe that by working together, we can build a more accessible world that promotes the fundamental rights of the marginalized
I invite you to join us in our mission to bring light and opportunity to the lives of the visually impaired across Bangladesh.
